After Altitude Training, It Is Time to Spike it Up and Enjoy the Camel City Mile
After completing 26 days of altitude training in San Luis Potosí, I have returned for my first race of 2015, the JDL Fast Track Camel City Mile in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Today, I attended the Elite Athlete Meet and Greet and had the chance to meet wonderful people. I enjoyed the event and cannot wait to race tomorrow. My training this month was very productive thanks to the guidance of my coach, great teammates, and the SLP community that made my stay so confortable and enjoyable. Through the Eyes of the Lion: Creating a Vision for the Future
Training is going very well. Yesterday, my body felt stronger during the workout. The intensity of the workout was high but the rest was low which shows that all the training that I have been doing is finally paying off. The objective during the first couple weeks of my training was to obtain aerobic strength so I worked on my base by doing longer intervals, tempo runs and longer runs. Now, during the last stretch of my training phase prior to the races (this week and the next two weeks that follow) , I will be fine tuning the body which means that I will start to incorporate much faster intervals while still working on the endurance aspect.
